Melon & Grape Salad For A Crowd
I have developed an allergy to cantaloupe over the last year or so, so this was kind of a hard challenge for me. I love cantaloupe, so I miss eating it. I thought about skipping out, but I had a BBQ to go to, so decided to kill two birds with one stone and do it anyway. My recipe really isn't very original when it comes to melon, but oh well.
Melon & Grape Salad For A Crowd
from cdkitchen
1 medium-large watermelon, cut into cubes or balls
3 honeydew melons, cut into cubes or balls
3 cantaloupe melons, cut into cubes or balls
1 1/2 lbs seedless green grapes
1 1/2 lbs red grapes
3 cups sugar
1 cup lemon juice
1/3 lime juice
1/3 orange juice
Combine melons and grapes. Combine sugar and juices, pour over fruit and toss to coat. Cover and chill for 1 hour. Serve with a slotted spoon. Serving size: 1 cup. Serves 50.
****I bought all of the stuff to make the whole recipe, but I started cutting it up and realized how much it was really going to make. So I ended up doing only about 1/3 of the recipe. And it still made a huge bowl (the biggest bowl that I have). I wasn't sure what it meant by "1/3 lime/orange juice", so I figured it meant 1/3 cup. By the time I ate it it had been sitting out for a long time, so it was really watery and I couldn't even tell that the fruit had had anything poured over it. I am hoping it was better for everyone else.
I didn't really eat much of it, so I'm not too sure what it tasted like. I am going to give it 3 starts just because melon salads are always a hit at a summertime gathering.

This one's always a hit. I never knew what to do for the "dressing",though. Thanks!!
