Question of the Week

Welcome to the inaugural edition of the Question of the week. This week we will discuss our favorite kitchen appliances.

While I do love my Kitchenaid, I am especially smitten with my food processor. My husband bought it for me this past Christmas, and it's been so nice to have it these past few months. I love that I can shred an entire pound of cheese in under 10 seconds (even Pepper Jack, which is often messy when you use a grater).

So what's your favorite kitchen appliance? (Not gadget, because we'll talk about those another time.) Please share what and why, and how it's made your life easier.

Right now, it's our rice cooker. Hubby got it for Christmas, and we use it several times a week as hubby loves rice. It was very inexpensive and works quite well. The best part? he'll make his own rice when he wants it and not burn anything on the stove.

I want a kitchenaid. We just haven't spent the money on one yet.

Oooh, rice cooker is a good one, but I must say my fave kitchen appliance is my microwave. It's great, especially here in Arizona, to be able to cook things without heating up the whole house.

I love to steam veggies in there. Just toss 'em in a glass bowl with a lid (or plastic wrap over the top), and zap them for 2 minutes and 45 seconds. Wah-la!!

I got a food processor a couple months ago. It's been great. I made baby food, crushed graham crackers, chop stuff. It does everything! Although It doesn't do ice. I am very much missing my blender. I need a smoothie!

I have to go with my kitchenaid. I use it at least weekly just to make cookies. Everytime we have a family function I am always asked to make the same chocolate chips cookies and I use my kitchenaid to help. I use to for a lot of other things also but for cookies the most.

I really want to get a food processor. Anyone have any recommedations???

I too, am a lover of my KitchenAid. I like to make homemade bread and I wouldn't be able to make it without my KitchenAid. I can't imagine standing at the counter kneading dough for hours on end. I'm not strong enough for that and I don't have the patience for it.

I'm off to make some bread.

I love my microwave. I don't cook in it, but when we had to live without one while we were shopping for a new one, I realized how much I use the thing! I'm a leftovers girl, and with twins still drinking bottles, it's indispensible!

i'm a microwave girl too. as PPs said, it's great for leftovers, for your side dish/vegetables, and keeping the kitchen cool-er. i've done without all the other appliances others chose for long periods of time, but i would buy a microwave the next day if mine broke!

Does a dishwasher count here? Girl, I may not cook in it (Hmmmm. I wonder...), but I seem to use way too many dishes when I cook. My dishwasher was out of whack last month, and I never realized how rotten life is as a cook when those dishes pile up.
